Joel Q is a Chicago songwriter/recording artist known for his honesty and humility he brings in his music. Since 6 years old, Joel knew that he had a knack for writing when he began writing small poems after his 1st grade teacher introduced him to poetry which eventually transitioned into Rap when he was 8. Joel knew that even though he is surrounded by the harsh realities on Chicago’s Southside, he understands the power in speaking life in which he applies in his music to bring awareness to millions. Joel has went on to create several projects, singles, performed nationally and even co-signed by well known names in Hip Hop from Sway of Sway In The Morning to Dreamville to even having a chance to Rap to Big Sean. Since then, Joel has curated a strong movement in his hometown with the help of Chicago emcees Brittney Carter and GQ The Teacha called “The New Chicago” where the goal is to grow together as artists and hold the sound coming out of Chicago to a higher standard. In Jan 2025, Joel took a bold stand by stating “Drill Is Dead” that captured the eyes of thousands sparking a new conversation in Hip Hop and Chicago. Since then, Joel Q has collabed with several artists in and out of the city to show the versatility and alternatives that Chicago has to offer while striving to be a top contender in the genre. Living by his motto ‘Never Stop Grinding’, Joel continues to push the envelope of creativity and art to be a light to his city and the world.
